Robert "Bob" Traverso

Bob was born in 1945 and ranch raised in La Grande, Oregon. His family then moved west to the Canby area. Bob graduated from Marshall High School and then attended college until duty called to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. During this time Bob was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his acts of bravery.

Later after his time in the service Bob worked for and then purchased Parker NW and Paving, Canby Sand and Gravel, along with numerous other quarries in the area.

Bob called rural Canby his home where he served many years on the Clackamas County Fair board as well as being President of the Western Fairs Association. He was also an active member of the Oregon Cattleman’s Association as well as the American Quarter Horse Association. Bob served as a member of the Canby Rodeo Association and was instrumental in guiding the Canby Rodeo to its position as one of the top rodeos in the nation.

It is with great honor that the Canby Rodeo Association presents a scholarship in Bob’s memory to continue on with Bob’s lifelong support of Clackamas County youth.
